Zoya Comparison Request - Ember, Isla and Rashida

Hi Friends

Today a lovely reader requested a comparison between Ember, Isla and Rashida, three stunning red polishes.

Ember can be described as a deep, fiery red liquid metal with enough blue to be wearable for all skin tones.

Isla can be described as a rich, velvety blackened red shimmer that appears lit from within.

Rashida can be described as a ruby red micro pearl shimmer.

Left to right Ember, Isla and Rashida, no dupes, but its close with Isla and Rashida, the shimmer in Isla is a deeper tone than that in Rashida, Rashida comes across as almost with an orange undertone, Ember is the brightest of the three.

All three of these have wonderful formula. All three of these stamp, Rashida likely better over a lighter base. I think the stamping shows the colour differences slightly better too, you can see that blackened base that Rashida has.

I really enjoyed pulling these three out, if you'd like to see others and I have the polishes do let me know.

  1. Hi! I'm the anon who requested this; thank you so so much!!! It is really helpful. I think I've narrowed it down to Ember (though I might change my mind—Zoya has so many pretty colours; it's hard to choose!) I think it's so cool that you have almost all of them. :) Thank you so much again! I'll let you know know if I think of any more comparisons. :)

    1. You're very welcome, yes I have a vast amount of their polishes, 739 at last count, I dont have too many of the french manicure colours but basically everything else except the Glamsicles collection and the blogger trio from 2012 for Birchbox as those never made it to the UK.

    2. Oh, wow, 739!! I don't even have 50! How do you keep track of all the collections? Do you use the wiki, the Zoya website, or do you have your own spreadsheet or something?

    3. I have my own spreadsheet, with the year the polish came out, the name, the number, does it stamp, the colour, finish, collection and have I worn it :)

    4. Oh, cool!!! That must be so fun! :)

    5. Its handy to keep track of name reuses and what polish came from which collection as apparently Zoya does not have a record of their own.

    6. Oh really? I didn't know that! I like to use this website https://beauty-lifestyle.fandom.com/wiki/Zoya_by_Collection :)

    7. Yeah someone in one if the Zoya FB groups contacted Zoya to request a complete list of the ZP numbers and polish names and Zoya couldnt give them a list. Strange right? you'd think they'd at least keep one polish every time they made a new one but seems not.

    8. Yeah, you would! That's strange. I mean, there are over a thousand ZP numbers (Marisol is ZP1191M) now, so that's a lot, but still. Looking up the number, I noticed the letter, which I think is new. You don't happen to know about that, would you?! (I wouldn't normally ask, but you know so much about Zoya! I love it :D)

    9. I think the *M* is for their new *monthly* polishes that they've decided to come out with, Marisol being the first one :) , thats what makes sense to me, whether thats it is another thing though lol

    10. Oh, I saw that! Is that in addition to the normal collections, do you think? (/hope!!) Also, on the US website you can search by year, season and ZP number if that helps you backdate things? For example, you can type the name of the polish and then try different years to work out when it was released. But that only works with non-discontinued colours :(

    11. Yeah I am hunting the early stuff from the 90s, the problem is that they had a different numbering system before the ZP numbers (which I think came about in early 2000s), they had just the number than a letter but they did put the date on the labels, I follow a lady on Instagram who has a lot of very old Zoya. If you look at my post for Giselle you'll see the old style bottle and label, this was a very lucky find on eBay a few years ago.

    12. Oh, interesting!! On the fandom.com page, they have Giselle as ZP356. And I thought my bottles from 10 odd years ago were old! :D I think it's really cool how much you know about them :)

    13. (Oh, by the way, I'm not sure if you can tell or not, but I'm the same person who commented on Rosalind, and maybe another post.)

    14. That Giselle was a reuse of the name I think because of the colour that one is, but again we cant be sure because no-one has a definitive list with the ZP number and matching name. I did think you were the same person :) Theres an Etsy listing for another vintage Giselle also 101a with a birthday of March 21st 1998, and yes thats what I ment when I said they used to put the dates of manufacture on the bottles :) my Giselle was *born* 29th May 1998.

    15. Oh, I didn't realise! But interesting! I would love to know my colours' birthdays :D

    16. It all depends on the ZP numbers, they restarted with ZP001 Carmen in early 2000 as far as I can work out and went from there, the very weird thing is I have a polish called Felina ZP237 but she was never part of a collection so I've put her into the original Classic core collection.

    17. Ooh, intriguing! I've seen that Carmen is number 1—I was surprised they still had her in stock (especially since they've started removing some ~2013 ones :/). Felina is pretty! I'm sure you've already looked it up, but Sabrina (ZP235) and Joy (ZP236) are from the winter 2002 collection, according to zoya.com, if that helps at all? When was the original Classic collection released? I hope your migraines are not bad today :)

    18. Joy is from the classic collection, this was basically their core line of polishes, they started with french manicure colours as they were only sold in salons and not actually ment for the public to buy.

    19. Oh, interesting! I didn't know that. I'm so glad they ended up making them available to the public! :D
